That completely depends on the company. Most of the time it won't matter how long you've been with them if it's call center style and/or outsourced billing..
Another random situation:
You cancel an adult membership. Then the site might either give a special promo offer to resign since the original affiliate (if applicable) most likely won't get credit after that, or they will send emails with special resignup promos. Cable TV and other businesses do the same type of thing. Some don't...
