You don't need to buy new software to bring the old desktop back, you can bring it back by changing something in the configuration, but there is no Start Button and the metro shortcuts always apply.

The stupid thing is there is no start button. You can install software to bring it back BUT, it doesn't work the same way, for me it disappeared once I rebooted. You cannot avoid metro.

In some ways it's better than win7, but the whole metro things just ruins it.
