Why not have the election be the party nominations, and whoever wins the popular vote in the final election is President, and the runner up becomes vice president?
Why wouldn't that work?
Or even co-presidents?
Political pressure would then shift to the parties.
Chosing officials based on absurd politics should be abolished.
I mean, really, what does one's stance on abortion have to do with his ability to negotiate treaties and command the military effectively?
It's really holding society back.
