I actually turned down a first time amateur girl once because I saw a flash of doubt on her face. I'm like I don't think you're ready and to call back if she ever was. She was relieved and I'm glad she never called back. If a girl is uncomfortable it just makes for an awful shoot anyway.
When I hand an amateur our model release I always say, "This says that I can put your photos on a billboard behind your parents house if I want to."
At least with the girls I shoot, the naive 18 year old girl is a myth. These girls work it, and work it good. Wish lists, sugar daddies, and fuck buddies... oh my!
So no... I never feel sorry for them. I sure wish I had that to fall back onto when I was 18-24.... would have been nice to not worry about money.
