My daughter has a mixed breed pekinese shih tzu.
We call it a Picha Shit ;p
We have 2 border collie-sheltie mix who are the brightest, friendliest dogs I have ever had. They take a lot of attention because they are very smart but make great companions.
I also tell folks to get 2 dogs, especially if they are getting puppies. It is as easy to train two as it is to train one and they keep each other company if you end up busy at the moment they are wanting to play
