every time I go down to Miami I laugh my ass off at what's considered a 'normal' portion size. One memorable one was a 'side' on the fucking children's menu made up of 1/2 lb of french fries. Raising tomorrow's diabetics today, I guess:/
I agree that general lifestyle plays a huge role, in that people who never walk farther than it takes to get from the front door to the car will gain weight over time, but diet really is the biggest factor in body mass. I work out like a fiend but if I ate like a typical North American (we're getting pretty bad up here in Canada as well) I'd be huge.
Very few peole can drink vats of sugary drinks and eat huge plates brimming with fried foods and not look like a house. It's crazy that those types of diets are considered normal to many.
