Pick a hot button issue that hasn't gotten much press otherwise and give it press. You can just make a broad lie up about it because since it hasn't been in the press, people would have no idea if what you're saying is actually true or not.
I'm sure both sides do it but that seems to be the deal here. I don't really give much of a shit about gun control...my stance is that every sane law-abiding person should have the right to get a gun, but not spontaneously. Guns will get into the hands of criminals no matter what, so trying to disarm people just seems silly. People trying to compare our country with other countries in that regard apparently don't follow the whole illegal alien and drug trade here and how rampant it all is despite law enforcements supposed best efforts. That said, people in a fit of rage being able to spontaneously get a gun and act on that rage is what worries me. It's bad enough that fucking Walmart sells guns.
