There are not much words I can give you as comfort, I have a family of dogs also, and it is a given fact that we are confronted with unexpected loses from time to time. It hurts, it does. It makes us cry, and there is no shame in this.
I am sincerely feel sorry for you and for your loss, it might not help saying this, but I did found peace in the fact that all our pets will be forever with us when you given them your love and care. When we pass over, we see our friends on the other side, and all will continue but in a everlasting shape.
Do not try to get over it, I never did, I have pictures of my previous friends hanging beside my desk, knowing they will look at me and support me.
I am sorry for you, and i hope you take the time to give it a place in your heart.
