Before the election, it was the Republicans unwilling to compromise. Unwilling to even consider additional tax revenues. They looked like the assholes and it was deserving. The day after Obama won, Boehner said tax revenues are on the table, but he wants balanced spending cuts to go with it. It was a perfect time to reset things and come together. Now it's the Dems who are unwilling to compromise, or at least their first offer exemplified that (The deal still isnt done). They are now the assholes. Obama also said between a choice of going over the fiscal cliff and a temporary deal getting done, he prefers the cliff. So who is really driving the car over the cliff? The press is really making it rosy for Obama right now, and he's posturing explicitly to try and blame the Repubs for it, but in reality he will be equally responsible for it if not greater.. You know what else Obama wants, he wants no more fights over the debt ceiling, which means he wants a blank check.
