As NASA says on their site, mostly with logic and not science "the earth has been getting along fine for 4 billion years."
Why would we be arrogant enough to think that everything is going to end while humans are enjoying their tiny history on the planet? To say that our existence here is tiny would be doing it too much justice. We'll be gone sometime hundreds or thousands of years from now, and maybe the coronal mass ejection will hit at that time. But it won't matter because whatever lives on earth won't be using electricity for power -- or maybe the only living things will be giant squirrel men, so they don't use a power grid.
I'm going to buy a few extra cans of pork and beans just in case.
