My wife is a hobby breeder, and a lot of times people will reserve a puppy by using their credit card for the deposit. Previously, we had them send us paypal, but (after using paypal for years), PP decided that they didn't want us doing that because they feel the "merchandise" should be delivered within 30 days of receiving payment. We have a year long waiting list on one of our breeds, so that's just not possible. We also had Payflow through Paypal to actually process cards, rather than people just sending money, but litters are sporadic through the year (as are deposits), so there's a lot of times we were paying for a processor that we aren't even using. We also have an Amazon Payments account, but they hold the funds for two weeks before releasing, which isn't horrible, but annoying.
We saw square the other day, and like how it's a flat rate per transaction (2.75%), nothing more. And we get the funds the next day. But our question is, is it possible to process cards through it as "mail order" or "phone order," as in, not having a signature? While we do meet most people when they pick up their puppy (very few have their puppy shipped), most aren't going to fly to us just to give us their signature with their $200 deposit.
Thanks in advance!

Hello - for card not present transactions the rate increases. This is the same for Square too.
