Racism became such a hot topic a decade or so ago that it is difficult to discuss race at all without people thinking you are racist, and in some cases, without second guessing yourself about whether or not you are being racist. I have a hard time discussing race in certain situations, things that I feel are perfectly normal questions, which happen to involve race, scare me, because everyone thinks it is racist to talk about race.

I'm white, and I noticed right away that the list of serial killers was mostly white guys, and mostly either late teens early 20's, or mid 40's to early 50's. Am I racist against my own race for noticing that?

I did a little research this morning, and I think I have a somewhat logical, or racist explanation, although I am sure everyone will find it racist:
1) There was one thing among the mass murders in the last 15 years in the US that was more common than the shooter being white, that was that the shooter committed suicide at the end.
2) When you walk into a public place, with a few hundred people around, and 50 bullets, you know you are not walking out of there a free man.
3) Mass murderers do not often have a desire to go to jail.
4) and this is the important one, white guys are almost 2.5 times as likely to kill themselves as black guys (now I am racist right.

so a black guy might have just as much capacity to commit as devastating a crime, however, he realizes if he does he'll end up dead as well; "I want those guys dead, but I sure don't want to die, so I'll go about it quietly (or loudly but in the hood where reporters won't go) and hope no one is listening". I believe the white guys mentality is more along the lines of "No one gives me any attention, so before today is over, I will be dead, and people will be talking about be, now who should I take with me in order to maximize media coverage".

so, I'm racist right?
