I think it's to do with how certain types of white mothers raise their sons.
I'm no expert on black mothers, but it seems like there isn't a black equivalent of "Norman Bates syndrome". Perhaps black mothers are more straightforward in what they teach their kids, and aren't holding their kids back for any reason.
