realistically, preppers are usually men, and often family men, so to say there are 3 million of them is likely to say there are close to 3 million families prepared, so closer to 11 million people.
I am a prepper, but in a very lackadaisical kind of way. I have a good stockpile of some pretty important supplies. But that's it, I don't practice prepping, i don't run drills with my family, I don't speculate when shit is going to hit the fan. I just shop at Costco, like to buy in bulk, and understand that even if nothing disastrous ever happens, it makes sense to have a back up supply of food, water, fuel and warm clothing. Realistically, as a person who enjoys camping and hiking the rest of my prepping only involved organizing the gear I already own into backpacks that can be grabbed in case of emergency.
I have no problem with people who call preppers crazy, i have seen the shows, most of them are, but I think anyone who doesn't have the foresight to put some thought into what their course of action in an emergency will be, is more crazy!
