Just skip the cname thing and create a new A record for your subdomain.

sub.domain.com A 66.6.21.144

Personally I'd move my shit off of Godaddy and to a registrar who won't auto bill your credit card by default, add a ton of shit you don't want or need, make you click through a ton of sales bullshit to register a domain and one that has normal DNS handling that isn't built for the avg godaddy client / retard.
