under the circumstances of the story, I would say him pulling a gun and shooting the guy was justified and I am just about as anti gun as it gets.
Having said that, this never had to go that far, this dispute had been going on for days, with the dude constantly threatening to kill him, how hard would it have been for the gun owner, or any of the many witnesses in the neighborhood to pull out their cell phone and video tape one of the guys tirades and send it to the police? Last i checked, it wasn't ok to be constantly telling your neighbors you are going to cut their heads off.
on a completely different note, I wonder what they did to piss each other off so much? the guy who got shot had only lived there a couple months, that's a pretty quick escalation of a neighborly quarrel.
