In Dutch Harbor Alaska, if you want to go for a walk and you want to stray off public roads - i.e. walk into the brush, hike up a hill etc. you need a "Native Lands Use Permit" which is a permit you're required to carry that costs over $100.00 for "using" native lands by going for a walk in a barren waste land. If you don't have your permit, the native police force can write you a ticket that comes with a steep fine.
