It's just fucking comical when they don't understand that 500 deaths is better than 900 deaths.
And it's not only gun laws that have an effect here. It's the local government, the police, and the general population. From what I've read about the crime in Chicago, the police there have made a huge amount of changes in the way the fight crime, mostly with gangs. These types of things have huge impacts on firearm deaths and crime in general.
Let's not kid ourselves here. One law about firearms is not going to make a huge impact - it's a lot more complicated than that.
