Actually, on further reflection I can see your point. He is just an avid "Antiques Roadshow" viewer and was keen to check out the awesome vintage clothing handed down from granny up in the attic. The guy bypassed all the family jewels (almost always kept in the master bedroom), the flat screen TV, stereo etc, and decided to go up to the attic to check out the 1960's record collection and old furniture gathering dust up there.
He actually did not even know the family was up there.
Easy for you to second guess typing from the comfort of your own home... which I assume is not currently being invaded by someone who has been arrested for criminal charges SEVEN other times in the last 5 years. LOL
