That's a valid point.. Most normal people don't handle a situation like that very well. Maybe they'll freeze, maybe they'll miss, they may even hit an innocent person.
No one says teachers should be required to arm themselves. Half of me wants to argue that the teachers DO have a duty to protect their students. That written, I still would never get behind requiring anyone who doesn't want to arm themselves to do so.
Those who WANT to arm themselves and who believe they could be effective in a situation should be allowed to do so. In order to do so on school grounds, I'd go along with requiring them to have some solid training, but again- this is about the innocents having any chance whatever being better than N O N E.
