These are homicides per 100k. Meaning, for everyone 100k US citizens 4.8 of them are murdered - be it by firearms, knives, baseball bats, hammers, sneakers, whatever. In the UK, 1.2 people out of every 100k are murdered. So the UK has one fourth the amount of homicides the US has every year. (
