I might recommend working with traditional quad skates to get you going. Your weight would be distributed better and you'll feel more stable than in roller blades, especially starting out.

Rollerblading, or roller skating in general, is great cardio and is excellent for core strength as you have to use your core to help keep you upright. And it will totally build up your legs, too
