.xxx is a joke, a bad joke. If anyone is buying those domains and renewing them they need their head examined.

I can see why brands might do it for brand protection but what's going to happen when ICANN creates dozens if not hundreds more TLD's, are brands going to register their brand in every single TLD known to man? I just dont see the point in it.
