She thought I could help her somehow. Her daughter had become like family to us, and this mother thought I was a great guy at the time. I was taking online classes through a university for a counseling degree, but I wasn't certified and therefore didn't have to tell law enforcement if she told me about illegal activity. She wasn't the only one who came to talk.
I never would have turned her in if she hadn't blown up at me for refusing to let my cousin go to Sacramento with her and her daughter, then threatened to resolve her anger with a gun.
