Of course it does.
But you have to turn the proverbail deaf ear towards all the hype, the con jobs and outright lies. Then just go back to basic business practices and principals. My Internet foot print is almost non-existant, the majority of my product is distributed the old fashion way. (Including mail order)
The medium which one uses to deliver the content may change. (ie: film to vhs to dvd to internet) But the content remains the same and this is where the game is played.
Again turn a deaf ear towards the hype. (Including self professed fans)
Then start making a list of those that actually spend money and buy from you. It is best if you do not actually talk to them but examine what it is they spend most on. Then cross reference that with what others are buying from you.
Over time what you want to do is figure out what makes your best buyers get hard. Then figure out how to make them loyal by finding ways to get your product as close to them as possible without ever loosing control of your product.
