I have a son that's 13. I was just reading this morning that a kid that was getting bullied in middle school (12 years old) committed suicide at the end of January this year and his mother is attempting to bring awareness by calling for school meetings, etc.
Let's just say that after reading the article, I will be a little easier on him when he gets home today. It was kind of a reflection moment. His grades haven't been the best as of late, so I have been probably being kind of a dick.
It just scares me to think that kids that young even contemplate shit like that. A thought like that would have never entered my mind at 12.
Good on them! I am not sure how I would handle it, however...
