I watched it. It was boring and looked like it they scrimped and saved everywhere they could. I can't explain it but it "looks" cheap.

You're forgetting DVD and other licensing. A movie's value extends past the original time in theatres.

Also, he is not the Executive Producer, only the producer according to IMDB (
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2672832/). The EP is usually the financial investor in the film, while the producer overseas the production of a film while preserving the original vision of the film. Sometimes they invest, but not always. Sometimes a person can contribute expertise to a film in exchange for a production credit.
