It's a stupid, childish, jealous, weird remark. I even tend to believe the people who say this are not only stupid, but gay as well (or low self esteemed women). Because it is totally logical to state that SleazyDream (clearly a straight man) is both wrong and homosexual because you think women would agree with him. Which, incidentally, I don't.

To answer the original post, I think that, as in all areas of life, some people love excellence and some people are compensating for a deficiency elsewhere. Or some mix of the two.
