People use fake traffic to inflate a top100 or for selling a domain. Some will join the top100 using real traffic to trade so it can work a while until exposed. Even when buying a domain with real traffic it is only worth the merit of what can be done with it.
Basically fake traffic is like a fake ferrari under closer inspection both don't do much.
