I can see how some people can consider it boring, if it isnt what they like. I went to a MotoGP at Laguna Seca once, had some great seats on one of the corners. We got to see the bikes fly past, and then we got to wait until they made a lap and flew past us again. That wasnt all that exciting to me as I get much better coverage at home on the Speed Channel. With oval track racing you can generally see all of the action on the track from wherever you are. Personally I only care for about the first 10 laps of a race and then the final 10 laps, whether it's the Daytona 500 or the Monaco GP.

Accidents happen. The people that got hurt didnt deserve it any more than the people that got hurt at the Reno Air Races in 2011 or people that get hurt when something goes wrong on a rollercoaster. Life is risky.

They have a soft barrier before the concrete wall, steel posts and chainlink reinforced with heavy steel cables. But that is all obvious in the photos.
