i remember from somewhere that the way to knock someone unconscious like that is to hit them in the chin such their head goes up and to the side, supposed to be guaranteed knock-out an not rly needing a whole lot of power, it's the twisting motion, anyway that's what i rmember.
this certainly seems to confirm that.
