The raindrops graced her cold cheek as if the dead girl were crying. The blank stare of her blue eyes gazed permanently into some invisible, far off place. Perhaps that was where she was now or where she was not. He wondered how long he had been gazing down at her. Damn light! Where did the darkness go? Many questions burned as the sunlight began to sting his eyes. His senses felt alive and not even the ugliness of approaching day could rob him of that.

Time to go home. The adrenaline now settling down a bit, he noticed how the tiny droplets of sweat on his forearms seemed to flow so elegantly with the rivulets of her blood, as though dancing in harmony. As he began to stand, he stopped for a moment to arrange her hair in a more flowing design, crowning the girl's frozen face in an eerie artistic fashion. But it wasn't so much the sunlight, as the lively song of a bird above him that brought him back to the harsh reality that this game was over. "Oh well ... all in all, good game."

The bird continued its morning song. Damn bird! As he started his short journey back, he found himself wishing he could fly. Not to be free, for he had already found the ultimate freedom of his soul, but oh how he would love to find and destroy that bird, a symbol in his mind of all the world's false securities. Everyday happiness. The same old songs playing over and over. If he were a red tailed hawk to the bluebird... Or was he already? One by one, he would break them all. Walking slightly faster, his fists clenched, "one by one", his steps and the voice within him reminded and assured him of his ambitions.
