There are very few exceptions, and those do not do a very good job of yaw control at lower airspeeds, such as when landing. And that's really important in a crosswind.

i dont doubt anything you say - still test pilots from back then claimed it was good to handle, the only crash was due to a failed jet engine
and since neither you nor i were there, we should leave it at that
