The 12 second delay between the two bombs is interesting. That could mean they used a cell phone to detonate the first one, waited for the sound of the explosion to reach them and then called in the next one. So you figure a couple seconds for it to register with the bomber that he's hearing the explosion and then another five seconds to end that call and make the next call (assuming it's on speed dial). Now you factor in the speed of sound and you've got an approximate radius of where this person was at.

The Islamic's use suicide bombers in the middle east because volunteers are easy to come by and it's easier to just push a button than sneak a bomb somewhere and hope it stays hidden long enough to set off. They also don't have to worry about anyone getting caught and leading the authorities back to the people running things.
In the US they don't have such easy access to people willing to blow themselves up, because in the US people have a future. Meaning it's much harder to find and keep people that are willing to blow themselves up hence to reason we have never had a suicide bombing here in the US.
