I don't remember Russia having a problem with the Chechens. They speak Russian and watch Russian TV stations. I believe the problems started when Chechnya closed gas or oil pipe lines running from this Russian province to the rest of Russia and declared independancy. That's like Alaska drawing away from the USA, it's not gonna happen.
