I don't need drugs to have a good time. I can take 'em or leave 'em. Sometimes it's fun to get high if I'm with a group of people out partying like that.
Sometimes it's fun to get drunk at a cool nightclub partying with friends.
Sometimes it's a lot of fun to cook out on the grill, go swimming in the pool, playing catch with my dog, and then end the day watching t.v. at home with no alcohol or drugs at all.
People are more complicated than we like to generalize them as.
Keith Richards slipped into heroin addiction for a few years. If you read his book "Life" he will be the first to tell you that addiction wasn't "fun". Pretty much you are no longer getting high when you are addicted to something. You are just feeling normal...and if you can't get what you are addicted to you feel horrible.
But other than those 7 or 8 years during the 1970's, he's had one helluva lot of fun.
Traveling the world. Huge homes in different places around the world. (he currently lives in a mansion on the beach down in the Caribbean). Fucked more women than all of us put together.
His book is pretty insightful and shows the side of him we all know (wild and crazy) as well as his more "normal" side (as normal as it can get for a guy who has been a superstar since he was 18 years old)
And yeah...he can party harder than almost any other human being alive when he wants to. lol
