Depends on how many, how many words, when you need them and of course the pay plus how you intend to pay.
"content providers that sell non-exclusive story content" - business fell because they didn't pay enough to writers.
"stories I can slightly modify for my needs" - you have to buy "as is" for that type of material with authors permission.
