I think the pointless Spiderman reboot is what really put the nail in the coffin for these comic book movies for me. There was no need for that to be remade at all, other than the obvious cash grab, and it was clearly inferior to the Sam Raimi films.
Watched Texas Chainsaw the other day and it falls into the same category of being completely pointless. Other than the first 15 minutes, the movie was total garbage. Even though it bombed after the opening weekend, it still made money, so we can expect more of the same.

To be honest, I can probably think of 3-4 movies that came out in the past few years and that I really liked. Unlike the AWESOME TV shows, 90% of the latest movies are all some vampire / superhero / animation crap that I won't watch even if you pay me.
