I find this weird. From a person who has seen women on my mothers side of the family fight and in 1 case die from breast cancer, I can understand why she would be concerned about it.

On the other hand, having this done as a preemptive surgery seems drastic. Early detection is key in fighting and beating any cancer. I don't see why she couldn't have increased her Dr's check-ups instead. Removing both breasts without being actually diagnosed with cancer is excessive in my opinion.
