It's sad this is even a question, but it's legitimate based on the history of affiliate managers in this industry.
#1) Your Affiliate Manager should establish direct and concrete relationships with the top Review Sites and Free sites in this industry. If you can't find an affiliate manager who already has this you should look further.
#2) Affiliate Managers KNOW HOW TO GENERATE TRAFFIC & SALES. This is not 2005. If you are hiring someone to manage affiliates who has no idea how to generate traffic and sales leads, you need to rethink. Affiliate management is about supporting and GROWING sales, not attending shows and having perky tits.
#3) Your Affiliate Manager should be hungry. They should KNOW your product and know the downline of traffic generators that produce targeted traffic and income. This is about trend watching, market research and product knowledge. Require it.
#4) They should be overly attentive. It's their job. Let them focus on excellent affiliate service that is a must when you are competing for quality affiliates in this industry now.
#5) MOST IMPORTANT! Positive attitude! For every 1 valuable affiliate you have, you will get 1000 worthless ones. Your Affiliate Manager needs the personality to handle and prioritize the entire lot.
