IMHO American media should show 30 minutes of uncensored war footage on TV every night. Show the dead women and children, people being gunned down, injured kids in the hospital, dead soldiers, and so on. I don't understand how anyone could support war if they don't even know what it looks like. Like you said, it's easy to push buttons or say you support a war, but when it is in your own back yard suddenly it is real and it is ugly.

This may sound shitty, but I think it needs to come to the back yards so people wake up and demand their governments stop whatever wars they are in. Civilians need to be exposed to atrocities if there is ever a chance for the bloodshed to end. As ugly as that may be, it is the only way to wake them up.
