That will not change anything as to keep your universal health insurrance in Canada, you must NOT reside more then 6 months minus one day OUTSIDE of Canada ....
As for owning property, as asked by OP, no problem , but you may need to pay it cash as US banks are not keen on mortgages for foreigners.
I had to do that 3 years ago.
