Pantone invented some device with some pretty outlandish claims, got investors throw in money for this, when his creation turns out to be a bit of pseudo-science and there are no scientific studies to back up that it works (and no, anecdotes about tractors or whatever don't count, there's no hard evidence), then gets accused of defrauding his investors and cries about a Grand Conspiracy. Also, if you watch him talk for more than a few minutes it becomes clear he is indeed certifiably insane.
I've no doubt there are many many efforts by Big Oil to discourage the adoption of alternate fuel sources, but this is not one of them. Guy was a crazy quack promising more than he could deliver, got in trouble for it.
