In my city it just came up for vote last week - we voted fluoride down for the 4th time in 50 years.
I'm against it. Not for the health paranoia around it, as I have yet to see any convincing scientific studies saying it's harmful though there are plenty of unsubstantiated claims (I'm sure Wehateporn will go off on this). For me it's a policy issue - I think the public water supply should be used to deliver water, not chemicals intended to address a completely unrelated public health issue.
If there is a dental health crisis in a given location, there are more effective ways to mitigate it than fluoride in the water. Also in the 1950s when cities starting doing so, it was before fluoride toothpaste and other treatments were widely used - now nearly anyone gets plenty if they brush 2x/day as directed.
