Unfortunately, I haven't found really good Windows equivalents for the app development tools I use on the Mac for iOS development. Maybe you can point me to some, though, because I haven't been looking since 2009.
I know you're making a straw-man argument, but most people here aren't very bright, so I'll spell it out for them: if you're shopping based on price, you obviously won't get a "real" mac, you'll get a Hackintosh. Candyflip swears by them, and I have no specific reason to doubt what he's said. The original comment was that Mac users somehow "overpay" for their Macs, but I'd personally rather have the genuine article versus a knock-off, because my time is valuable, and downtime isn't really an option for me or my clients.
If you're just Windows user, then any old laptop will probably suit you, but then why would you have been in the market for a Mac in the first place? Kind of a silly argument.
