I feel the same way about that era - simpler better more civilized times. WWII changed the world and may have changed the United States more than any other country.
We are such slobs today. Looking at everybody dressed nicely, well groomed, very few fatsos - seems like they had self control and more self respect. We inherited a renewed sense of freedom through WWII, perhaps too much freedom.
