Math Gurus Please Explain: Why Do Sales Go Down Over Time?

This question is mostly for those with tube site experience but could apply to other sites and links, too (Blogs, TGPs, etc).

I've noticed that when I submit a video to a tube and it gets, say, over 100k views in the first day sales are "consistent" - meaning the conversion rate for that site's Tour is holding steady and I got 10 sales.

Now, let's move forward a week. That same video now has 300k views! WooHoo! THREE TIMES the views on the first day. Sure, the video dropped off the Homepage and is now "buried" 10 pages down, but obviously the video is still getting views every day. So what about sales?

Weirdly, sales drop to almost non-existent! In the above example that first day the vid gets 100k views and 10 sales. By week's end the views triple but the additional sales are.....2.

Move forward a MONTH and that same video now has 850k views. Sales from 100k-850k views? 3.

So a total of 15 sales in a month with the same video getting 850k views.

10 sales Day 1
12 sales end of Week 1
15 sales end of month 1

Why does this happen? I have videos with MILLIONS of views but the sales mysteriously either stop altogether after a day or two or they trickle in thereafter. Obviously my vids (some of them) people LOVE and are still viewing years after I've uploaded them but you would think sales, while down from the initial posting, would be "steady" thereafter.

Nope. Why?
