No. You're absolutely right and smarter than the average adult affiliate who is around today.
A certain percentage do exactly as you state. I believe it's somewhere between 10% and 30% but I haven't found a credible study and even then it probably depends on factors such as how memorable or short the domain name is and how prominent the watermark is versus the affiliate links.
But even with that somewhere between 70 to 90% still opt to click your link instead and that is where you can make money. Assuming the tracking is correct and the sponsor isn't shaving, that is.
