Plate techtonics + mantle convection = Eventually it will happen again. One theory is North America will eventually become part of Asia, or conjoin to form a new supercontinent. It is also possible, all the land masses will become one again.

i have to say, i'm stunned. i never realized that all the land masses at one point had literally been 1 massive island. i guess it never clicked, i *think* i recall hearing about pangaea but that's about it.
it's even funnier to me because a while back i went on a documentary kick that started off with the ring of fire, i wanted to learn more about it after the japan earthquake + i live on a major fault line in socal,
but that expanded into some cool stuff about how they now think the grand canyon was formed and such. it's pretty amazing how much these geologists and similar can sort out these things now.
