In my case shooting what people want meant shooting lower quality - not higher... I have cameras worth 5k but I learned and adapted to shoot with a cell phone and make way way more money than I have did with all my pro gear. So it's working smarter, not just "high quality"
To me "Selling what people want" means giving a package that, when opened, is satisfying to the buyer. Could be high end x-art shit or a bunch of self shot cell phone porn...but the member is happy he joined. THAT is sorely lacking in a huge percentage of the members sections that GFY Affs are pushing. Also x sales and all the card banging... Its not just "Selling what people want" - its "Giving people an experience they want" If users leave unhappy they arent likely to break out that card for another site soon.
I know piracy cuts into profits, I'm not claiming it doesnt. I spend time every day sending take-downs. I'm just saying that its hurting the biz far FAR less than many GFYers complain about.
